How to Have a Healthy Thanksgiving

17 November 2016

The holidays are my favorite time of year, mostly because of all of the amazing food, and my life revolves around delicious and nutritious food!  When I first found out I was sensitive to gluten and dairy, I felt a little lost and didn’t know what I was going to eat or cook, especially around the holidays, when there seems to be gluten and/or dairy in EVERYTHING!

I Googled every possible gluten-/dairy-free recipe I could find and then figured out ways to make substitutions for my favorite foods so I could eat them again!

This year, we’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house for the first time and want to make sure that we have everything we need and that everyone has something they are able to enjoy eating!  Here’s a menu of what we’ll be serving:

  • Locally-raised, pastured turkey
  • Gluten-free gravy
  • Homemade cranberry sauce
  • Gluten-free stuffing
  • Organic steamed peas
  • Organic steamed broccoli
  • Green bean casserole
  • Mashed faux-tatoes

Hands down, this is the best Sweet Potato Pie we’ve EVER had!
