My 3 Goals for Every Race

09 February 2017

Have you participated in any races of any kind or registered for any this year? Are you thinking about trying out a race for the first time?

I remember I was so nervous and intimidated by my first race, though one of the veteran racers gave me some great advice:

  1. Have fun: You get to meet other like-minded people who are out having fun and getting exercise!  Getting in some physical activity each day has so many benefits from boosting your mood to sweating out toxins to working and stretching your muscles to getting up your heartbeat and pumping fresh blood throughout your body.
  2. Do your best: You know your body more than anyone else so you know when you can push yourself to your limits.  Ask me about finding a training plan that best works for you!
  3. Finish the race: Even if you’re last, you still participated! It doesn’t matter if you come in first place or not, you still got out of your house and completed an event!  That in and of itself is quite an accomplishment.

I ran my first race of the season last Sunday and I met all of these goals!  I had a great time running with two of my friends and meeting new ones; I did the best I could, even with a sore knee; and I finished the race!
