About Emma

When I was pregnant with our son, my husband and I knew that we wanted to have a natural childbirth (without an epidural, pain medicine, other interventions, etc.). We registered for a Bradley Method class and were so fortunate to have a wonderful teacher who introduced us to the Weston A. Price Foundation. During the 12-week course, we learned all about the best nutrition, exercises, birthing positions, etc. and I felt so much more prepared for a natural birthing experience. I would love to work with you to coach and guide you through a happy, healthy, and fit pregnancy!

After Liam was born, I did everything I could to eat well and nourish my body so that I could breastfeed for at least a year (I was able to breastfeed our son for over 2 years). I only had 7 weeks at home before having to return to work, though thankfully, work was very supportive and provided me the space and time to pump at work! Through breastfeeding and proper foods, I was able to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight by my 6-week appointment. La Leche League was very helpful and supportive for breastfeeding tips and preparing to go back to work. I would love to work with you to help prepare you to transition back to work after maternity leave!

Abdominal Separation (Diastasis Recti)

Even though I was back at my pre-pregnancy weight, my body shape had changed. My belly hadn’t gone back to its pre-pregnancy look or shape and my belly button was still “popped”. I did some online research and discovered I had diastasis recti. I then realized I could no longer do Pilates 100’s, sit-ups, crunches, or even planks! I researched online and consulted my online mama support groups about this condition and found a program called the Tupler Technique. I followed this routine for 20 weeks (instead of the recommended 18) and still follow guidelines on getting out of bed, good posture, etc. to protect the healing process. I recently completed another 12-week program (MuTu System) as another healing and maintenance routine. I would love to help you heal as well!

Getting Fit

Prior to my pregnancy, I did several triathlons (6 sprints and 1 international/Olympic length). After my pregnancy, I wanted to get back into triathlon shape (or at least in shape enough to do a race).  I joined the free crossfit course at the gym at work and had an incredible support group. I started participating in mud runs (Project Mud, Dirty Girl, Rugged Maniac), a color run (Color Me Rad), and even was a runner on a Ragnar Relay team! I would love to help you find your fit and get into (or back into) racing!

I have absolutely LOVED coaching others through the 21-Day TLS® Challenge (detox + eat clean/get fit). I will assist you with recipes/meal plans and give you workout tips and ideas. This plan will be individualized to fit you and your needs/likes, to help release weight, and feel happier and healthier!

Going Local

We also wanted to eat more in season and more locally, so we purchased two Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares from local farms (one for organic fruit and one for organic vegetables). For the past 5 years, we’ve received 20 weeks of fresh organic fruit and organic vegetables during the spring/summer and up to an additional 9 weeks during the fall for organic vegetables and 4 weeks for fruit. I researched and even created some of my own recipes with the produce we received. I would love to give you resources to find local farms, farmers markets, CSAs, etc!

Holistic Healing

After having my own health scare (routine checkup found abnormal/precancerous cells) and having surgery to remove them, I went to a naturopath to heal naturally.  My naturopath used iridology and performed a hair mineral analysis. The hair mineral analysis determined areas in which I had a mineral deficiency, which toxins were present, and recommended a food/lifestyle change to heal my body.  We are all bio-individuals and I can assist you in finding recipes and creating meal plans to fit your needs and likes!
